What we collect
- Account data: email, name, role (owner / vet / shelter / admin).
- Pet data: chip ID, species, breed, photos, medical and behavior records, ownership history.
- Provider data: license number, state, license document (private storage).
- Application data: adoption application fields you submit.
- Usage: scan logs, IP, basic device info, consent state.
How we use it
To operate the Service: lookup, verification, lost/found, billing, fraud prevention, and required legal compliance.
What is public vs private
By default, owner name, precise location, and medical summaries are hidden on public scan pages. Bite history is always visible — this is a product promise to protect future adopters and the public. Manage your visibility at /privacy.
Subprocessors
- Cloud backend & database hosting
- Payment processing (Stripe)
- Email delivery (when configured)
- CDN & object storage for photos and license documents
Retention
Verified medical and bite records are retained for the life of the pet plus 10 years for adopter protection. Marketing newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe. Provider license documents are retained until your account is closed plus 7 years for audit.
Your rights
Access, correction, deletion (subject to legal retention), and data export. Email privacy@tailtracker.example.
Cookies & analytics
Essential cookies are always on. Analytics and marketing cookies only run if you accept the consent banner.
